The new i20 rivals the refreshed VW Polo and the Ford Fiesta mainly, in Europe.
The European spec 2015 Hyundai i20 had its world premiere today at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Identical to the Indian model launched in August, the i20 for Europe sees it getting extra equipment and few design changes.
The top-end variants are equipped with LED infused headlight clusters with projector lights and a panoramic sunroof. At 4,035 mm in length, the European model is longer than the Indian spec, though their wheelbases measure the same.
Inside, the new i20's dashboard gets a contrast shade, and feature wise it is much richer as it offers a 7-inch display, front parking sensors, leather seats and heated front seats.
The new i20 will come with three petrol and two diesel engines in Europe. The base petrol which uses a 1.25-liter engine gets a 5-speed manual transmission, and the more powerful 1.4-liter petrol is available with a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The third petrol engine that has just been confirmed is the new 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine. To launch in 2015, the Kappa 1.0-litre T-GDI produces up to 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque.
The diesel range starts with a 1.1-liter three-cylinder paired to a 6-speed manual or a 1.4-liter diesel which also comes only with a 6-speed manual unit.
