Honda Grace Hybrid (Honda City) launched - Japan

Earlier this month saw the introduction of the Honda Grace Hybrid (the new Honda City) in Japan. Compared to the City sold in India and other markets, the Grace sports exclusive changes for the Japanese domestic market.

On the outside, the sedan gets clear lens taillights clusters, a more aerodynamic front bumper and optional LED headlights. Since its a hybrid, the gearlever and instrument cluster are also different.

The highlight of the Grace is its engine though. It comes powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine along with assistance from an electric motor. The engine makes 110 PS (108.45 bhp) and 134 Nm of torque and the motor contributes a further 29.5 PS (29.08 bhp) and 160 Nm of torque.

The Grace gets Honda's 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and is available with front wheel drive or AWD. The former returns a fuel efficiency of 34.4 km/l and the latter returns 29.4 km/l.

Prices for the Grace start at 1.95 million Yen (INR 10.04 lakhs) and extend to 2.2 million Yen (INR 11.32 lakhs).

The Grace gets features like city safety braking (which works between speeds of 5-30 km/h), heated front seats, hill start assist, VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), side and curtain airbags, ABS and EBD. Other features like navigation, reverse camera and touchscreen controls for the AC are also offered.
