The updated motorcycles get significant design makeover which consists of new headlights, instrument console, silencer, tail piece, taillight and rear license plate enclosures. The bikes also receive new color options, new tread pattern for tyres and rear mud guard that hugs the tyre.

Yamaha has reduced the displacement of the engine from 153 cc to 149 cc and has replaced the carburetor with fuel injection technology. The new motor delivers 13.1 PS and 12.8 Nm of torque which are 0.9 PS and 0.8 Nm lesser than the previous model respectively. However, the chassis has been revised to reduce weight by 3 kg (132 kg) and the company claims that the overall performance has been increased while the fuel economy is improved by 14%.
