IAB Report – Mahindra GenZe electric scooter to launch in USA this year
Anjan Ravi, I'm a true-blooded petrolhead. Hope you enjoy our news stories, launch coverages, motorshow coverages and test drive reports.
Mahindra’s first ever electric scooter will launch in the American market this year. The Mahindra GenZe as its known, will be a single-seater electric motorcycle, which has been developed completely in the Silicon Valley. When it launches this year, production of the GenZe will take place in the USA.
Mahindra says the GenZe can carry your groceries, laundry etc., apart from supporting a feature that allows you to charge your laptop or mobile device while you ride. The traditional instrument cluster makes way for a weather-proof, Bluetooth-enabled, 7-inch touchscreen display which shows how much charge you have, approximate range and other parameters.
Mahindra have not announced the electric motor, or battery, specifications yet. The company confirms that the GenZe will come with a Lithium-Ion Integrated Power Module which combines the battery pack, controller and charger in one ‘compact chassis’.
Based on these images released by the company, we notice that the GenZe gets front and rear disc brakes and a telescopic fork suspension at the front. The rear gets LED taillights mounted on the storage basket.
The GenZe will be positioned as an urban runabout in the American market. Based on press images released by the company, Mahindra seems to be targeting the younger audience.
