Hero Motocorp has launched the HF-Deluxe Eco for INR 50,500 (on-road, New Delhi). The HF-Deluxe Eco is the more efficient version of the HF-Deluxe.
Though the HF-Deluxe Eco is powered by the same 97.2 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke engine as the HF-Deluxe, engineers have lowered the air resistance of the Eco by using "stylized air foils" and aerodynamically enhanced wing mirrors. Another feature on the Eco to improve its fuel efficiency are its tires which are low rolling resistance in nature.
The power and torque figures of the Eco are identical to the HF-Deluxe though. The motorcycle produces 7.8 PS at 7,500 rpm and 8.04 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm and uses a 4-speed gearbox.
The commuter bike rests on a tubular double cradle chassis and gets telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front. The front and rear sport drum brakes (130 mm at the front and 110 mm at the rear). Features on the HF-Deluxe Eco include an electric start, body graphics and a knee grip.
Just yesterday, Hero launched the Splendor iSMART, another economical commuter motorcycle. While the HF-Deluxe Eco improves fuel economy by the way of enhanced aerodynamics, the iSMART gets Hero's new i3S Stop and Start system, a feature commonly found in cars.
