Tata Motors has unveiled the Tata Zest compact sedan in New Delhi today. The Zest was revealed alongside its hatchback twin, the Tata Bolt.
According to Tata, the Zest name "signifies enthusiasm for life, for the sense of excitement, anticipation, and energy it brings, approaching life as an adventure. It is all about being vivacious and energetic".
Like the Bolt, the Zest was styled by three of Tata Motors design studios (in Pune, Coventry, UK and Turin, Italy).
Power for the Zest will come from a petrol and a diesel engine. The petrol engine is the newly developed 1.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Revotron motor. It will produce 85 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm on the Zest. The diesel engine will be the 1.3-liter Quadrajet motor outputting 90 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm.
Essentially a sub-4 meter Manza, the Zest measures 3995 mm in length, 1695 mm in width and 1570 mm in height. The vehicle weights 1,106 kg and comes with a 44 liter fuel tank.
Inside, the Zest sports Tata's new Human Machine Interface system. This sees a 5-inch touchscreen display offer various functions such as Bluetooth, smartphone integration, supporting phone enabled navigation, social media integration, touch phone controlled interface and in-built HVAC controls.
