The 2014 Mercedes S 63 AMG has made its first public appearance at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new performance luxury sedan is powered by a 5.5 litre Bi-turbo direct injection petrol motor that is put together by AMG. The motor has a healthy output of 585bhp and a phenomenal torque of 900Nm harnessed by a 7-Speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT automatic transmission.
The rear wheel drive model gets you to 100kph from rest in just 4.4 seconds but if that's not quick enough for you, there is an optional 4MATIC all wheel drive system which shaves 0.4 seconds off the 0-100kph time. In fact, the S 63 AMG 4MATIC is the fastest S Class in history.
The go-faster saloon is set apart from regular variants by the sporty front bumper, side skirts, rear diffuser, and 19" AMG alloy wheels. On the inside, luxurious wooden inlays make way for sporty carbon fibre inserts. The AMG logo on the seats and the instruments are other interior differences.
The new S 63 AMG is lighter than the outgoing model by a good 100kg and that has resulted in better fuel economy and lesser CO2 emissions. The rear wheel drive car consumes 10.1 litre/100km (9.9kpl) while the 4MATIC variant covers the same distance in 10.3 litre (9.7kpl). CO2 emissions stand at 237 g/km and 242 g/km respectively.
