Usually, a new Honda model is seen in Thailand (or other Asian markets) before we see it here in India. However, with the new City, Honda staged the world premiere in India and announced that sales will begin here first in January 2014.
Seen here is the new City with a film crew on board. Honda Thailand have commenced shooting the promotional films of the car, hinting that the launch could take place soon.
From these limited images, we're able to spot a different alloy wheel design for the Thai-spec City. Otherwise, the car seems to be identical to the Indian model.
For Thailand, the new City would be available with the revised 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine outputting 119 PS and 145 Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox, and in the Indian driving cycle, the manual returns 17.8 km/l while the CVT has a fuel efficiency of 18 km/l.
Though the new City measures the same 4.4 meters in length, engineers have increased the wheelbase by 50 mm which translates to class-leading rear legroom. Certain variants of the new City will also receive rear AC vents, touchscreen-controlled auto AC system, rear camera, cruise control and leather seats.
