Earlier today we showed you the Renault Captur testing on Brazilian streets, bracing for a 2014 launch. Here's another model that is expected next year in the Brazilian market, another car that premiered in Europe.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla European-spec was spied in Sao Paulo by Noticias Automotivas reader Ailton.K. The test mule is the European Corolla with exclusive features such as LED taillights and alloy wheels copied from the American version.
The Brazilian model will be sold with engines displacing 1.8- and 2.0-liters, the latter with Ethanol-firing capability. The new Corolla will be manufactured at Toyota's Indaiatuba plant in São Paulo.
Toyota is simultaneously testing the new Corolla in India and Thailand. All three regions anticipate the car to launch in the early parts of 2014.
Available in Europe in Live, Active and Lounge variants, the Corolla comes with five powertrain options, with the most important of them all (for India) being the 1.4L D-4D turbodiesel from the current generation. On the new car, it develops 89hp and 205Nm, returning a fuel efficiency of 26.31km/l in the European driving cycle. This engine is also available with Toyota’s six-speed Multimode transmission (that works with an electronically operated clutch) and a Stop-Start motor.
