The Datsun Go has created a considerable amount of interest among the Indian car buyers.
Datsun's announcement that the Go will be priced below Rs. 4 lakhs has caught the attention of the value sensitive Indians. With the Datsun brand, Nissan is aiming at Maruti and Hyundai straightaway.
Oncars.in reports that production ready prototypes of the Datsun Go will be displayed at select Nissan Showrooms across the country to create awareness and interest in the new brand until its launch. The move will give the customers a preview of the car and is also expected to increase the footfall in the showrooms.
Datsun has not unveiled any technical details about the car which is slated to go on sale in India by early 2014. A sub four lakh price tag suggests that Go will be available only with a petrol engine, at least initially.
The Go is based on the Mirca's V Platform which would make it lighter than its competitors. The design language, both inside and outside, is conservative and generic in order to lure a large audience base.
The Datsun Go will be targeting the first time car buyers and will rely on its big car appeal to lure them. The hatchback will be rivaling the Maruti Wagon R, Chevrolet Beat, Hyundai Eon and the entry level variants of the Hyundai i10 and its own sibling the Nissan Micra Active.
