Ford EcoSport continues its non-stop on-road testing
As a toddler, those wheeled machinery fascinated me even before I knew what they’re called as! So here I’m, petrolhead by birth, Mechanical engineer by qualification and automotive reporter by profession!
Even after the production Ford EcoSport was unveiled to the public last month, the compact crossover still continues its testing process.
Here are a set of spyshots of the EcoSport, spotted in Guindy, near Chennai. For our ardent reader Mr. Shehzaad Raaz, it was easy to identify the test mule which sported the eye-catching Bright Yellow paint job.
Ford has already started displaying the mini SUV in shopping malls across 12 important cities in the country. There is also the Ford EcoSport Urban Discoveries contest which is a part of the pre-launch campaign.
It seems Ford is set to launch the EcoSport sometime in June. The car has managed to evoke interest in lots of potential buyers many of whom have been waiting for months to get their hands on the car.
The Ford EcoSport is available with three engine options – a 1.5 litre petrol, a 1.0 litre EcoBoost turbo petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. All the engines are mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission while the 1.5 litre petrol also comes with a 6-speed dual clutch Powershift automatic gearbox.
With the launch date still uncertain, the Renault Duster which is the primary rival would be having the entire compact SUV market to itself. Will the EcoSport sufficiently alter the market dynamics?
