GM India's product strategy for the next year is clear.

Chevrolet Enjoy MPV spiedChevrolet Sail sedan spied

The automaker has just launched the Chevrolet Sail hatchback and is now shifting its attention to the other two products that are promised. The Sail sedan and Enjoy MPV are the products developed by GM's partner SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation).

Our regular reader Mr. Mak Prasada spotted the test mules of the Enjoy and Sail sedan in Hyderabad. The cars are at the final phase of their testing before their early 2013 launch.

Both the cars will be powered by the 78 PS 1.3 litre XSDE (MultiJet in Fiat's lingo) diesel engine which was jointly developed by GM and Fiat during their days together. The engine and gearbox are being extensively tested throughout India and just like in the Sail hatchback will be recaliberated to suit the Indian environment.

The Sail sedan is not a sub-four metre sedan and hence will not be qualified for the exercise duty concession. The sedan will plug the void created by the discontinued Aveo and GM has a better chance in the mid size sedan segment this time owing to the diesel engine.

The Enjoy will be offered with three rows in 2+2+3 and 2+3+3 cabin layouts. According to Mr. Lowell Paddock, Managing Director of GM India, the Enjoy’s third row space is better than the segment kingpin, the Innova.
