Mercedes India launches Sport Editions of C and E Class
Ashwin Ram N P, Ashwin is a guy with a slightly unorthodox perception of everything. His struggle to choose a career path, between art and automotive engineering, has landed him in the field of auto journalism, where he has paved way for himself to practise both.
Mercedes-Benz has launched Sport editions of their C and E Class models.
The new variants are not special editions and will continue to be sold alongside the existing variants.
The Sport Editions are aimed at boosting the youthfulness of the Mercedes vehicles which otherwise are looked at as the cars for middle aged. The C220 CDI and E220 CDI have been chosen for the 'sporty' upgrade so that the customers can have a stylish Mercedes which won't drill holes on the wallet.
The cars come dressed in AMG-sourced body kits like the completely new front and rear bumpers, side skirts and bigger alloy wheels. The visual additions certainly add to the style quotient of Sport editions.
The C220 CDI Sport and E220 CDI Sport will target the buyers who love the looks of AMG cars but are not keen on shelling a fortune to buy and maintain them.
The C220 CDI Sport sits on 17" alloy wheels while the E220 CDI Sport boast 18" inch wheels. The 'Sport' badge will find its place on the boot lid. Both the cars come with Mercedes' polar white shade with black roof. The interiors will be getting some add-ons too to up the sport quotient.
The Sport editions are loaded to the brim with the Mercedes safety equipment. The 2.2 litre diesel engine will continue the duty along with the 7G-Tronic auto transmission.
The Mercedes C220 CDI Sport edition will carry a price tag of Rs.29.9 lakhs while the E220 CDI Sport will set you back by Rs. 39.9 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.
