The Honda CRV was a preferred choice of the Indian consumer some 4 years back. People used to love it for its easy driveability, awesome reliability and feature rich nature. Sadly, with the sudden change in the market conditions, we have all forgotten about its success story.  Well, Honda India hasn't!

Honda is testing its next generation CRV in India thereby hinting at the launch in near feature.

The soft roader was spotted testing in the Greater Noida expressway by one of the readers of Motorbash.com. The car has grown in dimensions and is expected to be better than the current CRV in all respects. You can read a comprehensive product deep dive over here

The new CRV was already launched in Pakistan and Honda will bring it here in the coming months. The new gen CRV is powered by the current 2.4 litre petrol engine but the power is increased to 185 bhp. The motor develops a torque of 220.5 Nm and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Owing to the extra dimensions, this new CRV will be more spacious. It will also have a more modern interior and equipment list to justify its estimated Rs. 20+ lakh price tag.

Sadly, the premium soft roader will not be launched with a diesel option which is available in the European version. The European CRV comes with an option of a 1.6 litre or 2.2 litre diesel engine.

Honda India has already confirmed that the first car to get a diesel engine will be the Brio sedan. We expect that Honda will slip in a diesel motor under the hood of the CRV at a later stage.

The Honda CRV feels unarmed in the company of big diesel SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and Pajero Sport, but appeals with its sedan like driving dynamics.
