Yamaha YZF-R125 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition revealed

Yamaha has introduced the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition of its entry-level YZF family motorcycle, the YZF-R125. The bike is sold in select international markets and is yet to go on sale in India.

Similar to the Maverick Viñales and Valentino Rossi’s YZR-M1 MotoGP bikes, the new YZF-R15 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition features a dual tone finish in the shade of blue and black. The new livery is accompanied by decals from some of the sponsors of the Yamaha’s factory racing team in MotoGP championships such as Monster Energy and ENEOS Performance Motor Oil & Transmission Fluid. There is also a Yamalube branding on the motorcycle.

The MotoGP edition also comes with a racing-style lever protector that is installed on the right-hand side of the clip-on style handlebar. A YZR-M1 MotoGP-inspired supersport cockpit further enhances the unique visuals of the YZF-R125 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition. Yamaha also offers the YZF-R125 in Yamaha Blue, Tech Black and Competition White colour options.

Do remember that Yamaha had introduced the MotoGP edition of the YZF-R15 V3.0 in the Indian market. Apart from the visual upgrades in the form of MotoGP livery, the YZF-R125 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition continues to feature the same specifications as the standard model.

Mechanical specifications include a 125cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled, engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. Paired to a six-speed transmission, the motor delivers 14.88 bhp of maximum power at 9,000 rpm and 12.4 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. The gearbox features an Assist & Slipper clutch system. Stopping power comes from a 292 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes while the safety net comprises ABS.

The motorcycle is built around Yamaha’s famed Deltabox frame and features premium hardware, including upside-down telescopic front forks, monoshock rear suspension, aluminium swingarm, full-LED headlights, LCD instrument console, split seats, and LED tail lamp.

The changes are limited to visuals, and the MotoGP edition continues to feature the same engine and hardware specifications as the standard YZF-R125.

Similar to other Yamaha R-series models, the YZF-R125 can be further customised with the addition of optional accessories such as titanium exhausts and slip-on mufflers, billet covers, protectors and more. Genuine Yamaha Accessories range also includes footpegs, and seat cover, endurance screen, license plate holder, tank pad, side sliders rim stickers and LED blinkers.
