The Yamaha M-Slaz has been snapped next to a Movistar version of the Yamaha R15 V2.0. The M-Slaz is significantly based on the four-year old R15 and it has notable improvements that would be carried over to the Version 3.0 of the super sports model. The R5 V3.0 is expected next year.
The Yamaha M-Slaz was launched in Thailand on December 1, on the eve of the 2015 Thailand Motor Expo, at an introductory price of THB 89,500 (1.66 lakhs). It is based on the Deltabox frame of the R15 V2.0 and is powered by the same engine doing duty on the current Yamaha R15, which is a 149 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder fuel-injected engine with SOHC and 4 valves.
The company hasn't released the power and torque rating of the engine on the M-Slaz. The motor on the R15 produces 17 PS at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm at 7,500 rpm. Both models use a six-speed gearbox.
Apart from the chassis and the powertrain, features such as disc brakes, seat base, exhaust, swing arm, monoshock, rear mud-guard and the like, are shared with or heavily inspired by the R15.
