The VW Ameo made its world premiere in Delhi, India today, which is the German manufacturer's first-ever compact sedan for the Indian market. It is confirmed to arrive in dealerships from the early part of H2 2016 (within 6 months).
In brief, the exterior design of the VW Ameo is basically a VW Polo with a stubby boot. The front-end features angular headlamps, sleek dual slat grille, rectangular foglamps housed within the central intake, while the rear-end has new taillamps and sculpted boot. The top-end variant will ride on 15 inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside, it gets a dual tone black and beige interior color combination, silver trim on the center console, multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel with manual adjustability and a Bluetooth-enabled infotainment system. Top-end variants come equipped with features such as a rear view camera, a MirrorLink entertainment system, auto dimming internal mirror, ABS and dual front airbags as standard in all variants, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, automatic AC, cornering lights, and front center armrest with rear AC.
The VW Ameo is confimed to be available in petrol and diesel variants. Diesel power is sourced from a 1.5-liter TDI engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG. As for the petrol variant, it packs a 1.2-liter three-cylinder MPI petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
