Volvo showed the long wheelbase version of the facelifted 2014 S60 at this year's Guangzhou Motor Show.
The wheelbase of the S60 has been increased by 80 mm to 2,856 mm (for reference, the standard S60 has a 2,776 mm wheelbase). All that extra length goes into the rear, as can be seen by the longer rear doors.
Volvo will offer the S60L with a choice of three engines. Starting the range is a 200 hp 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, while the same engine can also be had with 245 hp. The top-end S60L will be powered by a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder engine producing 304 hp.
Production of the S60L commenced earlier this month at Volvo's manufacturing plant in Chengdu, China. China being one of Volvo's largest markets, sales outlets were increased from 100 in 2012 to 150 this year.
The S60L will compete with its longer German rivals - the BMW 3 Series Li, Audi A4 L and Mercedes C Class L. While Volvo has not made a price announcement, we expect it to start from 220,000 yuan (INR 22.64 lakhs).
Currently, Volvo says that the S60L will be a China-specific product and there are no plans to launch it elsewhere.
