Volkswagen will bring the 10th anniversary special edition of its SUV Touareg to the USA. Termed the Touareg X, the car is based on the Touareg Clean Diesel Lux variant featureing 19-inch alloy wheels and a moonlight blue pearl exterior. The Touareg was launched at the 2002 Paris Motor Show.
Developed by VW, Audi and Porsche together, the platform underpinning the Touareg - the PL71 platform - has also provided the foundation for the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne. The Clean Diesel TDI variant was first launched in 2009 which featured a selective catalytic reduction unit replacing the V10 TDI in USA and Canada.
Apart from the alloy wheels, the Touareg X will get Vienna leather seats, ebony wood trim and a black headliner. There are also faux aluminium pedal covers, illuminated sill plates and piano black accents. Standard equipment for the model includes panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and GPS.
Only 1,000 units will be made available for the US market and each is priced at $56,170 (34.99 lakh rupees).
