The Vespa S 125 was put on display at the IIMS 2015 (Indonesia International Motor Show 2015) by PT Piaggio Indonesia, the subsidiary of Vespa and Piaggio brands in the archipelago.
The scooter was originally launched for the region on the 13th of May this year. Piaggio has claimed that the new Vespa’s engine is up to 30% more efficient. In Indonesia, it’s available in two colour variants: matt blue and matt yellow.
The scooter is powered by a single-cylinder 124.5 cc 4-stroke 3-valve air-cooled engine with an aluminium cylinder head and single overhead cam (SOHC) producing 9.65 hp at 7,750 rpm and 9.5 Nm @ 7,000 rpm. Mated to it is a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) with a dry centrifugal clutch.
The scooter features a 200 mm disc brake at the front and 140 mm drum brake at the rear. Piaggio has continued to focus on the comfort and this is readily apparent, by the single-arm suspension with shock absorbers at the front, and at the rear adjustable hydraulic shock absorber with four levels of stiffness.
