Piaggio will soon launch the Vespa 125 Sport in the Indian market, Indian Autos Blog has come to learn through multiple sources. The iconic scooter will be launched sometime during February, and will be price positioned above the Vespa VX 125 (which is priced at INR 71,380 ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
On the outside, the Vespa Sport can be told apart from the VX/LX models thanks to its squarish headlights and squarely-shaped wing mirrors (the regular Vespa gets them circularly shaped). At the rear, the taillight of the Sport is positioned a bit above compared to the regular Vespa.
Two new colors will be available on the Vespa Sport - a matte-finished black and an orange. The front suspension coil will be painted in a red to give it a sporty flair. The Sport will feature the same three-spoke alloy wheels, but with black powder-coating.
The instrument cluster of the Vespa Sport will look exactly like the image seen here, albeit for two changes: The Indian version will not get the Oil Indicator light and Check Engine light. Also, while the current Vespa VX features a closed glovebox, the Sport will get an exposed one.
The mechanicals of the Sport will be carried over from the regular Vespa. The powerhouse is a 125cc 3-valve single-cylinder four-stroke engine producing 10 PS and 10.06 Nm of torque, and a CVT gearbox is used to transmit this power. The Vespa Sport will also get a front disc brake as standard.
