After Honda Activa, the TVS Jupiter has become the second best-selling scooter in the country in the month of October, year on year.
As per ET Auto’s report, the TVS Jupiter was in the ninth position in the same month last year; and has now climbed to fifth position among the top-ten best-selling two-wheelers in October 2017. It also became the first scooter after Activa to get into the top five best-selling two-wheelers. The company sold 63,014 units of the scooter in October 2016; and 81,326 units in the same period this year. It thus registered an increase of 29% in October.
Commenting on the scooter’s sales performance, Aniruddha Haldar, Vice President – Marketing (Scooters), TVS Motor Company, said:
The TVS Jupiter has found favour with people across the country and demographics. In recent times, it has consistently found a place in the top 10 selling two-wheelers in the country. The iconic Scooty, offering Pep+ and Zest 110, has championed the female rider, including being the first scooter to conquer the highest motorable road in the world, Khardung La.
The company’s utilitarian moped, the TVS XL Super went down from the fourth position (highest selling TVS that time) to seventh place. The company sold 75,037 units in October, a decline of 14.4% over the same month last year. The Hosur-based manufacturer is also working on an electric version of the Jupiter. The scooter was spotted testing in August, and will reportedly be launched in June 2018. The scooter is likely to have a lithium ion battery with a range of at least 50 km.
