A report published by ET Auto claims the Toyota Vios will be making its debut at the Auto Expo scheduled from February 9, 2018. The Vios is widely reported to be the among the first new products in the pipeline for the Indian PV market.
While the Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation, Hiroyuki Fukui, who spoke to ET Auto at the Tokyo Motor Show, refused to comment on the future lineup for the Indian market, the publication claims that sources close to the company have informed them of the launch of the Toyota Vios in India in 2018. The Vios for India will be based on the Etios Core platform codenamed 231B.
The third and current generation Toyota Vios has been around since 2013 and is reaching the end of its lifecycle. A report from August states that the next generation Vios based on the TNGA platform will enter production in August 2018. Toyota may base the exterior design of the India-spec Vios on the next generation model while using the Etios' existing platform to underpin the sedan.

TKM has been long testing the Vios in India. It has expressed interest in bringing a sedan and a small SUV to India in the past. The company could be looking for a product to fill the void between the Etios and the Corolla Altis and rival the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, and Hyundai Verna. The report also mentions that the Toyota Yaris (codename 230B) will arrive in India in 2020.
