After introducing the Fortuner TRD Celebratory Edition in India last month, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is now set to launch the Vellfire in India. Not long after displaying the luxury MPV to dealers and potential customers, it had started dealer dispatch recently. Now, showrooms have started getting first units, as seen in the images below.
The Vellfire is the most luxury-oriented people mover from Toyota and can be seen as an indirect Mercedes V-Class rival. It is the sassier version of the Toyota Alphard and is mainly offered in two body styles - Standard Body and Aero Body. For India, Toyota has planned out the Vellfire with Standard Body. As for the dimensions, it measures 4,935 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,935 mm/1,950 mm in height. Its ground clearance ranges from 160 mm to 170 mm, this depends on the configuration selected.
In terms of mechanicals, the Toyota Vellfire sources its power from the 2AR-FE 2.5-litre petrol engine (182 PS/235 Nm) mated to a CVT or the 2GR-FKS 3.5-litre petrol engine (301 PS/361 Nm) mated to an 8-speed AT. There's also a hybrid powertrain option, with a combination of the 2AR-FXE 2.5-litre petrol engine (152 PS/206 Nm), the 2JM electric motor (143 PS/270 Nm) and the 2FM electric motor (68 PS/139 Nm).
In India, the Toyota Vellfire will be offered with the hybrid powertrain as standard. The Indian-spec Toyota Vellfire will feature LED headlights with cornering lamps, sequential turn indicators, power slide & back doors, 7 airbags, powered extendable Ottoman full recline seats, twin moonroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, individual seat tables, seat ventilation, heating and memory functions and Black/Flaxen interior. For the interiors, it will employ faux-wood treatment on the dashboard, gear lever, steering wheel and on a few other elements. Strangely, the unit seen here is missing an infotainment system. Maybe there's going be a dealer-level retrofitted unit.
If you are planning to buy the Toyota Vellfire then you will have to shell out at least around INR 75 lakh (expected ex-showroom).
