Toyota Kirloskar Motor said that the new Toyota Corolla has garnered 1,300 bookings in India since the showcasing at the Auto Expo with a near 50:50 split for petrol and diesel variants. Toyota opened bookings for the car at the Auto Expo and said the launch would be held in May.
The new Corolla retains the same engines, with the petrol model getting an upgraded CVT from Lexus.
The petrol variant is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder Dual VVT-i engine that makes 140 PS at 6,400 rpm and 173 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It comes with a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
The diesel variant is powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 88.4 PS at 3,800 rpm and 205 Nm between 1,800-2,800 rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
At the launch there would be five petrol variants: JS MT, G MT, G AT, GL MT and VL AT - all getting driver and passenger airbags, ABS and EBD. The top-end GL MT and VL AT variants have additional features like LED headlights, foglights, auto wipers, keyless entry with push start button, leather seats and a 7-inch display with reverse camera. The VL AT gets cruise control and navigation in addition.
Corolla diesel variants come in J, JS, G and GL and all variants have driver and passenger airbag, ABS and EBD, and auto climate control. The top-end GL additionally features LED headlights, keyless entry with a starter button, leather seats and 7-inch display with reverse camera.
