The 11th generation 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis had its Indian debut at the Auto Expo. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced the sedan with its engine options and features for India, apart from announcing that bookings for the car are now open. The sales launch and price announcement will take place in May 2014.
The Corolla Altis for India is available with a petrol and diesel engine. The petrol motor is the same 1.8-liter four-cylinder with Dual VVT-i producing 140 PS at 6,400 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a Super CVT 7-speed automatic gearbox.
The diesel Corolla continues to use the 1.4-liter four-cylinder D-4D engine outputting 88.4 PS at 3,800 rpm and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The new Altis measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,776 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. The wheelbase has increased by 100 mm compared to the previous generation model, and as a result, rear seat legroom has increased by the same amount. Toyota will offer reclining rear seats on the car to further enhance comfort for rear seat passengers.
Top-end variants will feature LED headlamps, LED clearance Lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, dual-tone interiors, push start/stop button, smart entry, rain sensor, paddle shifts, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth, navigation and reverse camera.
