Tata Motors has launched a new top-end variant on the Zest compact sedan. The Zest XTA Quadrajet, as the name suggests, is the range-topping diesel variant of the Maruti Dzire rival, fitted with an automated manual transmission (AMT).
Until now, the AMT was available only on the XMA trim, which is priced at INR 6.99 lakhs. The XTA retails at INR 8.07 lakhs, and for reference, the XT with a manual transmission comes at INR 6.99 lakhs (all prices are ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
Here are the features seen on the XTA that are unavailable on the XMA: Harman ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment system (the XMA gets a non-touchscreen unit), SD Card reader, reverse camera and rear parking sensors, voice commands, Smartphone-enabled navigation, height adjustable driver's seat, rear defogger, automatic climate control, alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and LED guide light on the headlight, and most importantly, dual front airbags and an alarm system.

The Zest diesel equipped with the AMT is powered by the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with a VGT. The unit is good for 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque with a fuel efficiency claim of 21.58 km/l (the diesel MT returns 20.65 km/l).
