Production to meet market demand in 8 weeks.
According to a report on The Hindu, the Tata Tiago has received over 20,000 bookings, of which 70-80 percent are for the petrol variant, Guenter Butschek, Managing Director, Tata Motors said. Tata Motors will be ramping up production of the petrol variants of the Tiago and expects to curtail waiting periods within 8 weeks, Mr. Butschek said.
Launched in the first week of April, the Tiago has received over 140,000 enquiries. The hatchback is produced at the brand's factory in Sanand, Gujarat. It debuted Tata Motors' all-new all-aluminium 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine, a three-cylinder unit capable of 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque. The diesel engine too is a new unit, a 1.05-liter three-cylinder Revotorq capable of 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque.
Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, though Tata has confirmed an automated manual transmission (AMT) for the Tiago. At present, the petrol is good for 23.84 km/l whereas the diesel returns 27.28 km/l.

The Tiago is priced from INR 3.2-4.75 lakhs for the petrol and INR 3.94-5.54 lakhs for the diesel, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. Later in the calendar year, Tata will also launch the Tata Kite 5 compact sedan based on the Tiago's platform.
