Tata Motors will soon ready a new variant of the Tata Super Ace, and this variant will carry a modified version of the Tata Nano's 624cc petrol engine. It however will be only for the export market reports Autocar Professional.
In April 2014, Tata had launched a petrol-powered Ace at the Manila International Motor Show. The report states that this engine would also be used for a 1-tonne payload variant of the Ace.
The engine is a 2-cylinder 624 cc MPFI unit making 38 hp and producing peak torque of 51 Nm. While the power unit is straight from the Nano, Tata Motors has changed the flywheel, exhaust manifold, cylinder head, oil sump, ECU & gearbox to achieve the levels of performance demanded by commercial vehicle owners.
Primary exports are said to be to countries in the Middle East, certain parts of Asia and Africa. For the 11 months this fiscal, Tata Motors' exports stands at 18 percent of the 160,000 light commercial vehicles it has sold in India.

This number is likely to go up with the new model as CVs in these targeted markets are still dominated by petrol engines.
