Based on the Tata Bolt.
Business Line reports that Tata Motors is expected to launch the Tata Sport, their first ever performance-oriented hatchback, this year. Following its debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, an updated guise was revealed at the Auto Expo 2016 last week, with the backdrop reading "Coming Soon".
Dropping the "Bolt" from its name, the Tata Sport features a performance-themed body kit that comprises of deeper bumpers with larger intakes, 17-inch alloy rims, side intake, and a rear spoiler. The Tata badge usually mounted on the grille is replaced with a stylized “S”.
Powering the Tata Sport is the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol ‘Revotron’ engine from the regular Bolt, but is tuned by Coimbatore based Jayem Automotive to make 110 PS @ 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of maximum torque between 2,000 and 3,500 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox, and is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 12 seconds.
