Tata Motors will be announcing a sportier version based on the Bolt at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, called Tata Bolt Sport later in the day. Here are the exclusive details and pictures of what appears to be the first proper hot hatch from the company.
It will be powered by the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol 'Revotron' engine, which now makes 120 hp @ 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of maximum torque between 2,000 and 3,500 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox, while the car gets disc brakes on all four wheels. Talking of wheels, the rim size has increased to 17 inches now, and it wears 205-section tyres.
The engine gets Multidrive which lets the driver choose between Eco, City, and Sports and benefit from different throttle maps fitting for respective uses. On the outside, the vehicle gets a new grille and projector headlamps, a body kit and sporty rear bumper.
Moving to the interior the car is draped in black leather with red contrast stitching and contrast accents, complemented by the sunroof. The Harman touchscreen infotainment system comes with voice recognition and SMS readout options. It also gets speed dependent volume control. In terms of safety features, the Bolt Sport gets ABS, Corner Stability Control, and dual airbags.
