Speaking to Motoring, Mr. Darren Bowler, CEO of Tata Motors Australia, revealed that the company is planning to introduce the Prima and Ultra range of mid-premium commercial vehicles in the country in the next 18 months.
The Prima range of commercial vehicles which was developed in association with Tata's South Korean subsidiary Daewoo Trucks is a heavy vehicle range with payload capacities starting from 25 tonnes and going all the way up to 49 tonnes.
The range would be further expanded with smaller models such as the Prima 1618T that was showcased at the auto expo. The Prima HCV range is available in truck, tractor and tipper body styles. The richly equipped Prima comes with AC, GPS tracking and telematics, air suspension reclining seat, resting berth, etc.

The Ultra range spans the light and intermediate commercial vehicles segments with payload capacities between 6-9 tonnes with body lengths of 14, 17 and 20 feet.
The Ultra trucks are powered by the Tata 497 TCIC four-cylinder diesel engine which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox to produce 125 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The Ultra range comes with optional AC, LED taillights, multi-information display, telescopic steering and so on.
