Production version expected to debut at Auto Expo 2016.
GaadiWaadi has rendered the forthcoming Tata Osprey/Tata X104 (codename) ahead of its possible debut at the Auto Expo 2016. As seen in the rendering, the sub-4 meter SUV will inherit its design from the Tata Nexon concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014.
Reported to be based on the Vista's X1 platform, the Osprey will rival the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the upcoming Maruti YBA when launched. It is reported to pack four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines paired to manual and automatic transmissions.
The four-cylinder petrol engine could be the second all-aluminium petrol engine from Tata Motors. It is likely to be derived from the Zica's 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine which also gets technologies like variable valve timing and MPFI. Reports suggest that the petrol engine for the Nexon could be turbocharged, taking the power output to 100+ bhp.
Inside, expect the Nexon-based production compact SUV to get the short-diameter three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a Harman-developed touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera, navigation and controls for the automatic climate control, soft textures for the dashboard, and ABS, EBD, dual front airbags and CBC (Cornering Brake Control).

While the Osprey could debut at the Auto Expo 2016, its market launch would take place only towards the second half of next year, reports state.
