Tata Motors yesterday launched the Nexon but only with a manual transmission option. The AMT variants are expected to join the lineup before the end of this fiscal year. Images of a Tata Nexon AMT test mule have been shared by Team BHP.
The test unit bears 'XZA' badging on the boot lid indicating this is the top end AMT trim of the Nexon. Tata currently offers the XZ+ as the top-end trims of the Nexon with no XZ trim in the lineup. It is unclear whether the XZA trim will have the same list of equipment or not. This particular test mule seen in the spy pictures here is finished in Calgary White and features Sonic Silver accents around the fog lamps, waistline, and bootlid in place of Ivory white accents. Exterior features include 16-inch alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, and roof rails along with clear lens tail lights with LED signature.
The interior of the Tata Nexon AMT was spied earlier this month revealing the AMT console and gear selector. Apart from these obvious changes, it is identical to that of the manual variants.
Tata will offer the Nexon automatic with a 6-speed AMT. Both the 1.2 L Revotron petrol and 1.5 L Revotorq diesel engines will get AMT. The petrol variants have a power and torque output of 110 PS and 170 Nm respectively while the 1.5 L diesel produces 110 PS and 260 Nm. For now, the Tata Nexon is available only with the TA6300 6-speed manual transmission.
