The Tata Nano is in a dire need of a new life. The diesel variant which is under development is expected to give that much needed boost.
Tata Motors have announced earlier that the Nano diesel will be launched at the later part of 2013 following the CNG variant. However, Carwale.com contradicts the information in its report and says that the production of the Nano diesel will begin by February 2014, suggesting that the car will hit the market sometime next April.
That is too long a time for the current Nano to manage. We hope that at least the facelifted version is on its way this year along with the CNG option to revive the ailing sales.
We recently brought you the details of the diesel engine that will go into the Nano. Garret, the turbocharger supplier for the engine has updated its website with the information on displacement and power rating.
The 800cc oil burner has a rated power of 30KW (40.4 bhp) which is adequate for a small and lightweight car. Along with the diesel engine, the Nano is expected to get comfort features like a power steering, a proper hatch door, etc.
From the previous spyshots of the car which were sent in by our reader Mr. Shubham N. Ghute, we can safely assume that the Tata Nano diesel will be adopting the facelifted guise. Tata Motors should try to launch the Nano diesel at the earliest to mitigate the damage.
