The Tata Magic facelift has been spied testing in Pune by a reader. The passenger-carrier was launched way back in 2007 and we expect Tata Motors to unveil the refreshed model at the Auto Expo 2014.
The Magic facelift gets square headlamps, instead of the simple round ones at present. It also gets a new grille, and at the rear the scene remains similar with the Magic retaining its traffic signal like vertically stacked taillights (not represented in this story).
The Tata Magic is built on the same platform as the load-carrier Tata Ace. The platform has spawned 10 main variants. The Magic gets variant extensions such as the Magic HT, Magic CNG and the Magic Iris, while the Ace, on the other hand, gets the Ace HT, Ace EX, Ace CNG, Super Ace and the Ace Zip.
The Magic Iris and the Ace Zip are mini-versions of their bigger siblings and were both launched in 2012. The platform also brought on the people-carrier, the Tata Venture, launched in January 2011.
The Tata Ace/Magic platform has seen tremendous success, despite a slowing commercial vehicle industry. The platform saw its 1 millionth vehicle being sold at the end of October 2012 since sales started in May 2005. Interestingly, the last half a million came in just two years.
