To launch in 14 variants, all powered by a 2.2L VARICOR diesel engine.
The Tata Hexa will launch for sale on January 18, nearly a year after it made its local debut at the Auto Expo 2016, claim several web reports. The Aria-based crossover will launch in 14 variants, and prices are expected to range between INR 12 Lakhs - INR 17 Lakhs.
The Hexa will serve as Tata Motors' flagship product. Customers are offered a choice between three grades: XE, XM, and XT, and they can spec their Hexa with 6-seats or 7-seats for each grade, manual or automatic (XM and XT only), and 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrains (XM and XT only). However, all grades are powered by Tata's 2.2L VARICOR diesel engine.
According to a leaked owner's manual of the Hexa, the base XE is powered by the VARICOR 320 version that outputs 150 PS and 320 Nm of torque. It is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox that shuffles power to the front wheels. The XM and XT grades get the slightly more powerful VARICOR 400 version, which outputs 156 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. A 4x4 drivetrain is available for the XT manual and XM automatic.
