Suzuki Thailand today unveiled the Suzuki Celerio at the ongoing Bangkok Motor Show.
Unlike the Indian version which comes with an AMT, the Celerio shown here featured a CVT gearbox, along with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The hatchback qualifies as an Eco Car under the Thai government norms and carries the same K10B engine as in India and is a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder 12-valve engine that makes 67 hp at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm.
Production and sales of the Suzuki Celerio for the Thai market will begin in May 2014. The hatchback is based on the Suzuki A:WIND concept that had its international debut at the Thailand International Expo in November last year.
Suzuki Thailand says in its press release that the car would be manufactured at its Rayong facility and be exported to Europe as well, which explains Maruti Suzuki temporarily ceasing exports to Europe.
Dimensionally, the Thai Celerio is identical measuring 3,600 mm in length, 1,600 mm in width, 1,540 mm in height and sports a wheelbase of 2,425 mm. It also has a boot space of 254 liters.
