An AutoForum.cz member spotted two versions of the Skoda Rapid testing in Czech Republic. The models have differently designed rear fascias.
If you look closely you will see that that the black model is much like the version sold in India with cuts on the boot lid and a squared appearance. The second version, painted in dull gray, wears a much cleaner rear fascia that calls the Chevrolet Sail to mind.
The Rapid plugs the gap left by the retiring Octavia Tour in Europe but Skoda will make many more changes to the European Rapid. The rear is a liftback unlike our market's Rapid that has a usual boot. A high ranking Skoda India official told IndianAutosBlog.com that the European Rapid could be launched in India as an extension to the Rapid brand. There's no limitations when it comes to engines, Skoda can feel free to pick from the awesome collection of engines in the VW Group inventory. They can choose the 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI, 1.6 TDI or use the naturally aspirated petrol engines.
The concept version of the Rapid (Mission L) was showcased last year in Frankfurt while the production version makes it global premiere at the Paris Auto Salon.
