Skoda will launch the Kodiaq in India on October 4, 2017. The Skoda Kodiaq will become the brand's flagship offering in India slotting above the Superb. This will be their second SUV in the market after the now-defunct Yeti.
The Kodiaq is the first ever seven-seater offering from Skoda. It is based on the MQB platform that underpins the Volkswagen Tiguan. Concerning price, the Kodiaq is expected to cost a little more than the Tiguan at INR 30-35 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Kodiaq's main rivals will be the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Skoda will launch the Kodiaq with a 2.0 L TDI diesel producing 143 bhp and 340 Nm. Internationally, this engine is offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG (automatic) transmissions. The Skoda Kodiaq will be offered with an AWD setup as well. The car is 4,697 mm long, 1,882 mm wide and 1,676 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm.
The exact variant list and features break up are yet to be revealed. Expect the top-end trims to get LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, dual zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support among other features.
Globally, Skoda also offers the Kodiaq with a 147 hp 1.4 L TSI petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This engine option might make it to India at a later stage.
