Both will be manufactured and exported from India.
A report from IOL states that the entry-level Renault Kwid and Suzuki Baleno are expected to launch in the South African market later this year (post Q2). Both models will be manufactured and exported from their respective plant in India.
The Renault Kwid for the South African market could have upgraded tech and safety features, as compared to the India-spec model currently sold. It is likely to pack a bigger 1.0-liter three cylinder engine for more power, and safety features such as dual airbags and ABS. As for exterior touches, it could get body colored bumpers similar to the Brazil-spec Renault Kwid.
As for the Suzuki Baleno, changes will not be as drastic as the Kwid. Only manufactured in India, the Suzuki Baleno is available with a choice between a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol or a 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine in the domestic market. Euro-spec models exclusively get a 1.0-liter Boosterjet engine, which is also manufactured in India.
Some of the features available in the Baleno are ABS, EBD and dual front airbags, LED daytime running lights, HID headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, reverse camera, automatic climate control, smart entry with push button start, a 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system with Apple CarPlay, and steering mounted audio and phone controls.
