The Renault Captur is nearly a disaster for Renault in India. It has not sold over 500 units in any other month than in which it was launched (November 2017). Dealerships are now compelled to phase out old stocks at discounts of up to INR 2 lakh.
Well into the second half of 2018 now, dealerships are holding MY2017 Renault Captur in stockyards. In April 2018, MyCarHelpline was reporting a discount of up to INR 1.25 lakh on 2017-made Renault Captur. Now, the blog says that dealerships are offering a hefty cut of INR 2 lakh on the Hyundai Creta rival.

Market leader Hyundai Creta is seeing a healthy sales of around 10,000 units a month. The Renault Captur has never sold above 500 units a month after November 2017 to the date. From November 2017 to June 2018, Renault has sold only 3,296 units of the Duster-based SUV.

The Renault Captur is available in India in four grades: RXE, RXL, RXT and Platine. Renault offers a wide range of attractive customisation options for its flagship SUV in the country. Two engine options are available: 1.5L H4K petrol (106 PS/142 Nm) and 1.5L K9K diesel (110 PS/240 Nm). A 5-speed manual transmission (petrol)/6-speed manual transmission (diesel) sends power to the front wheels. ARAI has given a fuel economy rating of 13.87 km/l (petrol)/20.37 km/l (diesel).
