Price to tuck under RM 60,000.
The Proton Suprima S, a spacious premium hatchback from Malaysia based on the Preve sedan, appears to spawn a more affordable 'Standard' variant as suggested by these spyshots from Paultan's reader Mr. Asraf Hadzwan.
The no-frills version makes do with steel wheels and hubcaps instead of alloy wheels. To further keep the costs in check, the new standard variant could be skimping on other exterior elements like HID headlamps, foglights, ORVM-mounted blinkers and rear diffuser.
Going by the difference between the Exora Standard and Exora Premium, one can expected the entry level Surprima S to forgo features such as reverse parking sensors, multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth and DVD, cruise control, auto-fold wing mirrors, etc. However, vital safety features like the dual front airbags, ABS, EBD and disc brakes on all the four wheels are expected to remain.
Coming to the powertrain, the existing Executive, Premium and Super Premium variants are powered by a 1.6-litre CamPro turbocharged engine which is capable of 138 bhp, mated to a 7-step CVT. The Standard variant may employ a 6-speed manual transmission.

The feature deletion should place the base Suprima S variant below the RM 60,000 mark (INR 10.77 lakhs) which is roughly RM 16,000 cheaper than the Executive variant.
