Expected to launch in 2018.
One of the members of a 4x4 enthusiast group in Facebook has uploaded a rendering of the next generation Mahindra Thar, which is rumored to arrive in showrooms from 2018. Note that these are unofficial, fan-made renderings.
As enthusiasts would prefer, the styling of the next gen Mahindra Thar is likely to retain its old school, Willys-inspired look, although do expect some contemporary design elements that further modernizes the exterior.
The next Mahindra Thar will be based on a new body-on-frame platform which will have better structural rigidity to meet future crash test norms. To meet future emission norms, the engine under the hood is likely to be a 1.5-liter unit from the mHawk family of diesel engines, although it’s unclear if it’s a retuned version of the unit in the TUV300 or a downsized version of the 1.99-liter in the Scorpio.
