MINI has revealed the John Cooper Works concept ahead of its debut, which will take place at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January.
The 2014 John Cooper Works Concept is based on the latest-generation MINI, which was unveiled last month. It is a study which offers a look at the future generation of the sports model. The JCW variant would head to production sometime in 2014, staying very close to the concept.
The MINI John Cooper Works Concept is said to have a positive influence from the new model, which is already reported to be more powerful, punchy and agile than its predecessors.
The Concept features an exclusive body paintwork in Bright Highways Grey. The roof, roof spoiler and exterior mirror caps are finished in a contrasting red. Sport stripes in chilli red are applied on the bonnet and boot lid, while the roof gets them in a white shade.
Red accents adorn the rim wells of the light weight alloy wheels, brake calipers, the side indicator surrounds and the contour lines of the front and rear apron. The radiator grille gets a black surround and also sports a red accent line which lends particular emphasis to the John Cooper Works logo.
The concept sports an aggressive body kit with large air intakes and air-channeling elements on the front apron. Headlights are powered by LED technology. It also features specially contoured side skirts and a rear apron with flaps, a diffuser element and rear spoiler.
MINI hasn’t shared its technical specs but it is expected that the JCW variant could get a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo with around 217 bhp of power. It will also be equipped with a sports exhaust system including John Cooper Works silencer system. The twin tailpipes which are finished in chrome and carbon fiber also sport the John Cooper Works logo.
