Mercedes-Benz India today launched the Mercedes GLS (Mercedes GL facelift) at INR 80.38 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Pune. For the Indian market, the GLS has been launched in the GLS 350d variant. The German luxury carmaker has also started local assembly of the GLS at its plant in Chakan, Pune.
The Mercedes GLS 350d is powered by the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine capable of 258 hp at 3,400 rpm and 620 Nm of torque between 1,600-2,400 rpm. It is paired to a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission driving all wheels via the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The GLS, according to Mercedes, is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and hits a top-speed of 222 km/h. The SUV is equipped with the AIRMATIC air suspension system, DYNAMIC SELECT with 5 driving modes (Comfort, Sport, Individual, Slippery, Off-road), panoramic sunroof, a new center console with new trim options, Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch COMAND infotainment system, full LED headlights, and Active Parking Assist with 360-degree camera.

According to Mercedes-Benz, India is one of the top 10 markets for the luxury SUV. Apart from the GLS, Mercedes also sells the performance Mercedes-AMG GL 63, which is a CBU (Completely Built Unit). Globally, Mercedes has also introduced a facelift for the performance SUV, the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63.
