Will be imported as a CBU.
Early-2015 will not only see the launch of the Mercedes CLA sedan, but also the Mercedes E400 Cabriolet, claims a report from Autocar India. Prior to the launch of the refreshed E Class in 2013, Mercedes-Benz India was selling a convertible and coupe variant of the sedan, but both niche models were discontinued.
Now, Mercedes plans to relaunch the Cabriolet in its E400 specification. In Germany, this model is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine capable of 328 hp and 480 Nm of torque, matched to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The E400 Cabriolet can hit 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, while the top-speed is limited to 250 km/h.
However, the E400 sold in the U.S.A. gets a 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 capable of a similar 329 hp and 480 Nm. It remains to be seen which engine the Indian model gets.
Regardless of the engine, the E400 Cabrio gets a soft top that can be opened or closed at speeds up to 40 km/h. With the top down, the E400 is equipped with features like an Aircap and rear wind deflector to ensure occupants' comfort.
