Even as the next generation 2015 C Class broke cover, Mercedes Japan launched the Edition C Special Edition model based on the outgoing generation recently.
The Edition C celebrates global sales of 10 million C Class's since the introduction of the model in 1993. Just like the Edition C which went on sale in India recently, the Japanese model gets an Avantgarde high-gloss grille and fins, an AMG styling kit with front and rear bumper spoilers and side skirts, 17-inch alloy wheels in a two-tone, high-sheen finish with five spokes and a dark tint for the headlights.
The cabin features ARTICO/DINAMICA upholstery, an integrated navigation system, sports seats, electric sunroof, ambient lighting package, split folding rear seats and contrast stitching.
The Edition C for Japan is available on the C 180 variant which is powered by a four-cylinder 1.8-liter engine producing 156 PS and 250 Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox sends the power to the rear wheels.
The Edition C in Japan is available on the sedan and estate variants of the C Class. While the sedan is priced at 4.34 million Yen (INR 26 lakhs), the estate is priced at 4.54 million Yen (INR 27.2 lakhs).
In India, the Edition C is available only in the C 220 CDI variant, and is priced at INR 39.16 lakhs.
