Penultimate launch of this year.
According to Autocar India, Mercedes will launch the 2-door Mercedes AMG GT S in India on November 24, 2015. It will be the 14th and penultimate launch for Mercedes India scheduled for the year 2015.
Although not a direct successor to the Mercedes SLS AMG, the Mercedes AMG GT is the second product developed solely by Mercedes' AMG division. The exterior follows the characterisitc fastback GT styling, featuring a long front hood, short rear-end, and a curvaceous styling. It loses the gullwing doors for a conventional pair of doors.
Under the hood, the Mercedes AMG GT packs a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine available in two guises. The Indian market will get the more-powerful GT S variant, which produces 503 bhp. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed Speedshift DCT gearbox.
The Mercedes AMG GT will be the headline product in the AMG range in India. It will be sold exclusively in new AMG Performance Centers that Mercedes India has opened in a select locations.
