Mercedes-Benz India have launched the Edition 1 special edition on the A Class and B Class. The Edition 1 are diesel variants adding a few features to the exterior and interior.
The additional features are Matt Black decals on the running boards, a panoramic sunroof, electrically-adjustable front passenger seat, high-gloss black-colored wing mirrors, black hub caps and 'Edition 1' logos on the outside and inside. Added to this, the A Class Edition 1 gets 17-inch 'Tremolite' grey alloy wheels, while the B Class Edition 1 receives two 17.8 cm rear entertainment screens with a DVD player and infrared headphones.
Only 100 units of the A Class and B Class Edition 1 are available and come in three exterior colors namely Cirrus White, Polar Silver and Jupiter Red.
Mechanically, there are no changes in the cars. Powered by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine making 107 bhp and 250 Nm of torque and matched to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the A Class diesel has an ARAI-rated 20.06 km/l, while Mercedes claims the B Class diesel will average 18.98 km/l.
The A Class Edition 1 is priced at INR 26.17 lakhs, and the B Class Edition 1 at INR 28.75 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai.
The A Class and B Class account for about 20 percent of Mercedes-Benz India's sales volumes. Going ahead, the company will launch the GLA Class (which is based on the A Class) in the months to come.
